Tom Rourke

Vice President for Design, Insights and Innovation, Kyndryl

Understanding and connecting to people’s needs and experiences has been a common thread throughout Tom’s career in financial services, technology, and education.

Tom is responsible for building out Kyndryl’s Design and Experience capabilities and eco-system as well as cultivating design and co-creation skills within the broader Kyndryl Consult population. Insights and Innovation are key to his role in helping build Kyndryl’s eminence in the market while establishing pervasive habits of innovation across our organization bringing unique value to our customers on their modernization journeys.

He is a consummate storyteller, a skill he uses to help colleagues grasp essential ideas and communicate in compelling and memorable ways.

A lifelong learner, he believes that all our experiences have value but that unlearning old habits can be every bit as important as acquiring new skills.

A champion for diversity and inclusion, he is an ally and mentor with a particular emphasis on gender and neurodiversity.

Sarah B. Nelson

Chief Design Officer, Kyndryl Vital

Sarah B. Nelson has been focused on the intersection of design, research, and technology for more than 25 years. In her current role as Chief Design Officer / Distinguished Designer at Kyndryl, Sarah oversees Kyndryl Vital, the designer-led, open and collaborative co-creation experience that helps customers and alliance partners solve their business challenges and create groundbreaking technology platforms.

Sarah is an advocate for empowering women in design and technology. She previously founded The Radical Visionary, a platform to support women in the creative industry with leadership training, retreats, coaching, and educational content. Sarah has spoken at key industry events including South by Southwest, UX Week, IA Conference (formerly IA Summit), and Mind the Product, covering topics such as design leadership, creative processes, design thinking, and workplace transformation through design.

Sarah is an enthusiastic painter and passionate surfer.
