Episode notes
Just because AI can, does it mean AI should?
Data cited in Kyndryl’s 2026 People Readiness Report suggests increasing numbers of leaders will soon answer the question with, “Yes.”
The People Readiness Report found that 81% of respondents expect within 12 months, autonomous AI agents will make decisions with material business impact for their organizations. How will they get there? Particularly when roughly half of the respondents cite questions about bias, transparency, explainability and trust as top barriers to activating their AI strategy?
The barriers are matters of responsible AI. In this episode, AWS joins us with a perspective on how—and how well—organizations are working toward a future AI makes decisions with material business impact.

Sarah B. Nelson (Host): How does thinking about trust in people change the way organizations make decisions about responsible AI?
Diya Wynn: The questions being asked fundamentally change. Responsible AI cannot just be about meeting compliance standards or being legally defensible; it has to be about whether you are genuinely building trust with the people who will use or be affected by the technology. That means thinking about transparency from the start: how AI is being used, what data is being leveraged, what outcomes it may produce, and how people can contest or opt out of its use. These cannot be afterthoughts. They need to be part of the strategy, design and value chain from the beginning. (Hear the full response at 15:10)
Sarah B. Nelson: What are some clear signals that organizations are truly ready to scale AI responsibly?
Tony De Bos: First, responsible AI needs to be adopted from the top down and made a real priority across the organization. Then organizations need to spend significant time helping people understand what they are trying to do, being transparent about how AI agents are being implemented, and listening to the employees and teams who will use them. Transparency is the key word. If organizations are open about what they are doing and bring people along, that helps them scale AI in a more responsible way. (Hear the full response at 21:10)
