Kyndryl will integrate and manage a new infrastructure for digitally storing anonymized images for the Catalonia Health Institution in Spain

The solution integrates a VMware virtualization platform and cloud object storage technology

BARCELONA, Spain, March 10, 2022 - Kyndryl (NYSE: KD), the world's largest technology infrastructure services provider, has announced today that it is optimizing and managing the anatomic pathology environment of the Digital Medical Imaging System of Catalonia (SIMDCAT). The SIMDCAT platform serves as a digital image database that physicians within the Catalonia Health Institution can use to improve the diagnostic process for patients and enhance medical care.

The digitization process of health images involves traceability, and the use of computing power to manage and analyze a large volume of data. Kyndryl is providing the technological infrastructure used for storing these anonymized images in accordance with the strict security standards required by the health sector.

Kyndryl has designed a solution that integrates VMware’s vSphere virtualization platform with a cloud object storage database for storing the data. Kyndryl is hosting the anatomic pathology environment of SIMDCAT in two of its data centers in Spain to deliver advanced data security, protection, and resiliency.

In the future, this virtualized database solution has the potential to enable access to advanced technologies like machine learning to further enhance medical care.

"We are very proud to be able to contribute our knowledge to a service that will help doctors in their work of diagnosing and treating patients. By putting their trust in Kyndryl with this implementation, the Catalonia Health Institution is securely advancing their digital transformation goals and modernizing the medical care their doctors can provide to patients for years to come," says Luis Roca, president of Kyndryl Spain and Portugal.
