Our sustainability strategy

Kyndryl's focus on environmental sustainability is a fundamental part of our business operations. We recognize the impact we have on the environment and our responsibility to minimize our greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint and promote sustainable practices.

Our Corporate Environmental Sustainability Policy outlines the approach to sustainability across business activities and services. The management of Kyndryl’s environmental sustainability program is focused on three strategic priorities aligned with our business objectives and mapped to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and our non-financial reporting requirements.

1. Manage climate change risk and environmental operational efficiency
 

  • Reduced scope 1, 2 (market-based), and applicable* scope 3 emissions by 34% since our fiscal 2023 baseline, advancing toward our Science Based Targets initiative-validated 2030 and 2040 goals.

  • Increased renewable electricity usage to 63% of total electricity purchased in fiscal 2026, supporting our goal to source 100% renewable electricity by 2030. 
  • Advanced supply chain decarbonization through supplier engagement programs focused on emissions reporting and science-based target adoption
  • Achieved a 99.9% IT e-waste diversion rate, supporting our goal to divert 100% of IT e-waste from landfills by 2030.
  • Reduced water consumption in water-stressed areas by 22% since fiscal 2023, progressing toward our goal of a 30% reduction by 2030. 
  • Continued biodiversity efforts through IBAT assessments, employee-led volunteering activities, and an AI-enabled biodiversity monitoring initiative in Luxembourg.

2. Manage system performance and regulatory compliance

 
  • Maintained global ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certifications for our Environmental and Energy Management System (E&EnMS), helping drive environmental performance and operational efficiency across our business.
  • Integrated climate-related risks, greenhouse gas emissions management, and double materiality assessment findings into our environmental governance processes.
  • Published disclosures aligned with leading sustainability frameworks, including TCFD, GRI, SASB, and CDP.
  • Obtained independent third-party assurance for key environmental metrics, including greenhouse gas emissions, water, and waste data.

3. Being a preferred service provider and advancing our market reputation  
  • Delivered sustainability services to customers via Kyndryl Sustainability Advisor (KSA) on the AI-powered Kyndryl Bridge platform, helping organizations measure, manage, and optimize energy use, emissions, and sustainability performance across hybrid IT environments. 
  • Scaled sustainability services across decarbonization, data and AI, and received recognition from ISG as a Leader in Sustainability and ESG IT Solutions and Services for the second consecutive year, reflecting Kyndryl's sustainability expertise and market leadership. 
  • Advanced sustainability thought leadership through our 2025 Global Sustainability Barometer, providing insights from business leaders across industries on the intersection of sustainability, technology, and AI.  
  • Continued providing sustainability education to employees through our Mission Net-Zero course, with more than 50% of Kyndryl employees completing training on sustainability fundamentals and Kyndryl's net-zero strategy.
  • Supported sustainability expertise across Kyndryl through employee engagement programs including the Green Guild and the Eco Stream Network, fostering employee engagement and sustainability innovation.
