Customers come to Kyndryl for solutions to some of their most vexing business and technical challenges. They ask what’s the best way to modernize our IT estates? How do we protect our investments in earlier systems and technologies, and get the most out of our investments in AI? How can we innovate to serve our own customers better while protecting their data and complying with an expanding global portfolio of governmental regulations?
Kyndryl’s partnership with AWS has been critical to our ability to help customers run the optimal solutions for their specific needs on the right platforms for their industry, that best support their current and future operations. As an AWS Premier Tier Partner, Kyndryl has earned more than 11,000 AWS certifications — including 15 Competency Certifications and 10 Service Validation Certifications. And together, Kyndryl and AWS have launched hundreds of successful projects for our customers.
Here, Kyndryl’s Vice President for the AWS Alliance, Pankaj Kumar, reflects on how the Kyndryl-AWS alliance has helped Kyndryl innovate and grow while opening new markets to both partners.
How has the AWS partnership helped Kyndryl deliver customer value in 2025?
Pankaj Kumar: Kyndryl’s partnership with AWS has continued to stand out as a high-impact strategic alliance, delivering measurable outcomes through differentiated, AI-powered solutions. Together, Kyndryl and AWS have developed and delivered offerings in the areas of agentic AI-powered modernization, SAP and VMware through Amazon EVS, generative AI offerings and industry-focused joint solutions. These capabilities have enabled enterprises to enhance agility, resilience and cost efficiency.
Our joint success is reflected in the achievement of 25+ AWS competencies, including those focused on financial services, retail and storage, along with the renewal of our Managed Services Provider Program. Kyndryl has also been named a finalist by AWS for three award categories: AWS ProServe Rising Star Partner of the Year, AWS State/Local Government Consulting Partner of the Year, and AWS Non-Profit Organization Healthcare Partner of the Year. This momentum underscores our shared commitment to customer-centric transformation and positions both organizations as trusted advisors in the next wave of cloud and AI adoption.
Can you share more about the concept of agentic AI-led modernization?
Kumar: Kyndryl is redefining enterprise transformation through our Agentic AI Framework, which accelerates the modernization of legacy systems — including mainframes, applications and operational workflows — securely and at scale. At the heart of our approach are autonomous, goal-driven AI agents that perceive, reason, plan and act independently, while operating under strict governance and human oversight. These agents function as digital teammates to enable faster, more intelligent transformation across complex environments.
A key enabler in this journey is AWS Transform, which automates code analysis, refactoring and migration. Integrated into our agentic workflows, it enables enterprises to convert COBOL and other legacy workloads up to four times faster than traditional methods — reducing risk, cost and time-to-value. As an Elite Partner for AWS Transform for mainframe modernization, Kyndryl has worked closely with AWS during the preview phase to shape and refine this service end-to-end.
How are Kyndryl and AWS collaborating to help enterprises transform business processes through generative AI adoption?
Kumar: As part of our Strategic Collaboration Agreement, we launched the AWS Innovation Factory — a co-funded initiative to create AI, ML and generative AI solutions with customers. This initiative combines AWS’s advanced AI services with Kyndryl’s deep industry expertise to help enterprises move beyond pilots and embrace AI-native operations — unlocking new efficiencies, improving decision-making, and preparing for the future of the autonomous enterprise.
Through Kyndryl Consult and the Innovation Factory, we can help enable industry-specific solutions including:
Banking: Conversational AI agents for secure, personalized customer engagement
Insurance: Document automation to streamline claims and compliance
Healthcare:
Virtual assistants to summarize clinical data and support enhancing patient experiences
Manufacturing:
IoT and AI-powered safety monitoring and predictive maintenance tools
To support scalable adoption, we’ve introduced the Kyndryl Data Intelligence Cloud for AI — a secure, turnkey platform built on AWS, that unifies data, analytics and generative AI capabilities, offering no-code tools, pre-built industry templates, and integrated GenAI workflows. This empowers enterprises to accelerate AI adoption, reduce risk and unlock new efficiencies at scale.
What is next for the Kyndryl and AWS partnership?
Kumar: The next chapter of our partnership is about AI-led transformation at scale. Together, we’re moving beyond traditional modernization to enable AI-native enterprises — where intelligent systems learn, adapt and act responsibly.
By combining AWS’s cloud and AI services with Kyndryl’s Agentic AI Framework featuring intelligent agent orchestration, digital trust and adaptive workflows, we deliver transformation that is fast, secure and sustainable. To achieve this, our joint focus areas are:
