Both entities sign an agreement that includes the integral management of the bank's technological platform, from the central systems to the user workstation and the bank branches

Agreement also expands and strengthens the cybersecurity and resilience of the bank’s architecture

BILBAO, Spain, February 23, 2022
- Kutxabank, one of Europe's most creditworthy mid-sized financial institutions, and Kyndryl (NYSE: KD), the world's largest infrastructure modernization service provider, have announced an agreement to continue with end-to-end management and the transformation of Kutxabank’s technology platform.

Kutxabank and Kyndryl have had a close working relationship for many years. The new agreement improves efficiency and expands the services that Kyndryl offers Kutxabank to go with its digital transformation and sustainability plan. Kyndryll will help Kutxabank evolve its core infrastructure that supports key lines of business, such as the central banking systems and bank branches, to its private cloud. This new model will give Kutxabank greater efficiency and flexibility in how data is analyzed and harnessed for innovation. The bank will be able to improve its time to market for delivering new and innovative customers offerings.

The agreement also includes a robust security and resilience services model that is fully integrated into the bank's end to end operations; from the identification of alerts to total prevention. This enhanced security approach enables the bank to meet the evolving and demanding technological requirements of the financial sector.

“With this agreement, the Kutxabank continues to take the necessary steps to strengthen the trust customers put into our institution. The new, more robust, flexible and scalable technological capabilities helps to address growing demands for quality of customer service,” says Javier García Lurueña, CEO of Kutxabank.

With this project we will help the bank to optimize its infrastructure investments and plan its future needs with services that, with a focus on security, resilience and sustainability, address capacity planning on demand, component modernization and increased service speed and agility," says Luis Roca, President of Kyndryl Spain and Portugal.

The agreement illustrates Kyndryl's technological capacity to respond to the innovation plans of key companies in the financial sector. Kutxabank selected Kyndryl for this implementation because of its expertise in cloud transformation.
