Kyndryl Systems Transformation and Migration Services teams and Amazon Web Services (AWS) collaborated and crafted an architectural design consisting of a hybrid-cloud architecture, a cloud landing zone environment, and a replacement of out-of-date on-premises hardware. The Cloud migration was based on AWS’s Well-Architected Framework that codified migration best practices and was designed for the client’s business requirements.

  • Minimized operational risk and enabled top line revenue growth through an improved application performance and improved system reliability that was achieved through a fully supported Hybrid-cloud solution.

For a global cruise line, their customer systems of engagement are mission critical and the continuous availability of their booking systems, regardless of internal or external events, was essential. The client wanted the ability to handle all guest reservations and transportation, including guests’ pre- and post-hotel stay arrangements, and their air transportation.  

How Kyndryl helped
Kyndryl automated redundant, resource-intensive, and costly disaster recovery processes across multi-vendor on-premises physical and virtual environments onto a secure data center located off-site.  Data protection was enabled by designing recovery workflows to create and manage a backup of the client’s booking system on a replica, upgraded, infrastructure that managed changes in platform configurations and helped deliver peak performance. 

Outcomes achieved

  • Enabled client to increase booking conversion rates by increasing diversity in their booking system with no interruptions of customer access or data.  
  • Reduced operational expenses by increasing infrastructure availability, scalability, and service levels, and reducing and eliminating manual efforts and resource-intensive and costly IT recovery processes.
  • Provided recovery for enterprise applications that span multiple technologies, and helped the client to meet their audit and compliance requirements.
