Universidad de los Andes modernizes critical IT systems with Kyndryl and Oracle

SANTIAGO, Chile, February 12, 2026 — Kyndryl (NYSE: KD), a leading provider of mission-critical technology services, and Universidad de los Andes (Uandes), a prestigious Chilean higher education institution known for its academic excellence and innovation, announced the successful migration of the university’s IT workloads to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). 

The IT modernization allowed the institution to scale its operations, improve response times and strengthen the reliability of its services, while also reducing operational costs. As a result, the university, its health center and the Clínica Universidad de los Andes were able to enhance the experience of students, patients, faculty and healthcare professionals. This comes at a time when educational and healthcare institutions rely on scalable, secure and efficient digital services.

Universidad de los Andes faced limitations with its previous cloud infrastructure, which hindered scalability and created operational challenges. To address these issues, the university migrated 108 workloads to OCI in just four months, followed by a comprehensive modernization of its IT environment. Kyndryl Consult provided essential expertise both during the decision-making phase and throughout the entire implementation. 

Universidad de los Andes entrusted Kyndryl with the management and operation of its cloud workloads, resulting in improvements to key processes such as student services and patient care. Additionally, the modernized infrastructure enables better operational and financial control, as well as operational excellence in both the university and its clinic.

The project brought together experts from Kyndryl Consult, along with professionals in networks, security, cloud, applications, data and AI (ADAI) and digital workspace services (DWS), to deliver an efficient migration of workloads. This support helped the institution establish a solid foundation for ongoing innovation, enabling it to adopt containerization and accelerate application modernization in the future.

Uandes chose Kyndryl for its expertise in cloud, security, networking and consulting. Kyndryl worked closely with Oracle as the primary cloud provider, leveraging Oracle’s experience in multicloud environments.
