Building things from scratch has always fascinated Arijit Roy, Principal Architect at Kyndryl India. From creating research prototypes to establishing protocols for business process management, growing initiatives from the ground up has become Roy’s way of life.
He credits his approach to early experiences that demanded critical thinking and problem-solving. “Even as a child, I refused to give up on tough math problems until I’d solved them on my own,” Roy recalled. “The persistence I developed in those years continues to serve me as I innovate solutions for customers today.”
Roy’s technical prowess in application modernization helps transform businesses across the retail, e-commerce, manufacturing, aviation and transportation sectors. In his various roles as a developer, development lead, project manager, solutions architect, enterprise architect and people manager, Roy regularly champions a bold approach to innovation.
“When I commit to a project, I don’t shy away from facing headwinds,” he said. “Learning from successes and failures helps us stay adaptable and resilient.”

What is the meaning of innovation?
Innovation is solving a problem to create a real-world impact. Sometimes it’s disruptive. Other times, it’s an elegant application of something we’ve overlooked. But it’s always transformational.
In a career of highlights, what have been your biggest plays?
Leading the Application Foundation on Kyndryl Bridge is pure joy. I get to push boundaries, create new possibilities and drive transformation for customers on the platform. Architecting a critical Go-To-Market experience and guiding my team through execution — all on a tight three-month timeline — was a special moment. Currently, I’m challenging myself with conceptualizing capabilities from scratch and bringing application-level awareness across our vast customer portfolio to accelerate Kyndryl’s growth.
What’s your most exciting current challenge?
I’m creating more data-driven opportunities for Kyndryl by integrating and curating data from multiple sources, building a centralized data platform that improves governance and security, and reducing siloed data processing costs. I’m also transforming our Application and Business Service Portfolio into a central intelligence hub for application metadata, topology and analytics. This will fuel smarter modernization and migration decisions, enable deeper automation, and strengthen our ability to engage clients more confidently and precisely in our modernization offerings.
