A young woman walks outdoors on a campus, holding notebooks and folders against her chest. She looks upward with a confident expression, surrounded by trees and modern buildings. The background includes another student and architectural structures, suggesting an academic environment. Warm sunlight and soft colors create an optimistic, aspirational mood.

How the Kyndryl Foundation is helping close the global skills gap

By Una Pulizzi, Global Head of Corporate Affairs at Kyndryl and President, Kyndryl Foundation

With pride, I share that Kyndryl Foundation has now completed two years of partnership with nonprofits worldwide. When we established Kyndryl Foundation in our earliest days as an independent company, we wanted to share our expertise with communities we serve, and help people thrive in the digital age. Our second Annual Impact Report, released today, shows the progress we’ve made toward those goals.

The rapid pace of technological transformation makes digital fluency central to how we live and work, and essential for economic opportunity and participation. Kyndryl Foundation grants have helped our partners reach more than 400,000 people in this second year with the training they need for economic advancement. You’ll find stories of the individuals, schools and communities our grantees have engaged this year in our full 2026 Annual Impact Report.

Through partnerships with 12 organizations across 11 countries, our Foundation’s goal is to help close the AI and cybersecurity skills gap and build a more inclusive economy through education.

In our most recent People Readiness Report, global business and technology leaders cited skills shortages as the second most difficult challenge (trailing only cybersecurity) for organizations to implement their AI strategies. And more than half of the surveyed leaders said finding the right talent for their AI strategy has become more challenging this year.

As we look ahead, we remain guided by the simple belief that lasting impact is built through partnership, trust and sustained commitment. Together with our grantees, we continue to expand access to critical digital skills to unlock opportunities for the communities we serve.
