Kyndryl completes cloud modernization for Alpitour World on AWS

Migration of mission‑critical mainframe workloads strengthens agility, scalability and operational resilience

MILAN, February 26, 2026Kyndryl (NYSE: KD), a leading provider of mission‑critical enterprise technology services, today announced the successful completion of IT modernization and cloud migration for Alpitour World, one of the most important European players in the tourism industry, moving the company’s core mainframe workloads to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform. The milestone represents the culmination of a cloud transformation journey that began in 2023 and builds on the long‑standing collaboration between Alpitour World and Kyndryl.

“The evolution of our core IT is a key step in supporting the growth of the Group’s ambitions and continuing to innovate our business model,” said Francesco Ciuccarelli, Chief Innovation and Technology Officer, Alpitour World. “Modernizing our mainframe workloads, the final step of our journey to the cloud, has enabled us to accelerate transformation while maintaining high standards of reliability and operational continuity.”

“Supporting customers in modernizing their IT environment is central to Kyndryl’s business,” said Luca Missagia, Vice President, Customer Unit North Lead at Kyndryl. “For Alpitour World, we delivered a full migration of mainframe workloads to AWS Cloud. By modernizing its core infrastructure, we reduced operational complexity, increased agility and transformed a rigid legacy environment into a scalable foundation for future innovation.”

The initiative focused on information systems, with particular emphasis on moving off the mainframe, historically at the center of the company’s critical business operations. The transition to a cloud-native architecture enabled Alpitour World to overcome the limitations of its legacy platforms and adopt a more flexible and scalable model that integrates seamlessly with advanced digital services.

The migration of mainframe applications to AWS Cloud was completed in 16 months and enabled full operational continuity, creating conditions to accelerate additional innovation initiatives, both from an infrastructure perspective and in the evolution of Alpitour World’s digital services portfolio.

The migration to AWS Cloud has enabled a more dynamic and resilient operating model, delivering tangible benefits including improved efficiency, enhanced scalability and the ability to rapidly evolve the core IT environment in response to evolving business needs.
