Kyndryl and Microsoft are using agentic AI to re-imagine enterprise modernization. Our shared vision is to make organizations truly AI-native — building out from core AI functionality rather than applying AI as an “add-on” to legacy systems. Together, Kyndryl and Microsoft are leading the way — driving innovation by combining decades of operational expertise across industries, an advanced hyperscaler platform, and a people-centered culture of service.
To time with Microsoft Ignite 2025, Kyndryl Senior Vice President and Global Consult Leader Shawn DSouza details the differentiated value of the combined Kyndryl-Microsoft AI approach.
What makes Kyndryl’s AI work with Microsoft unique?
Shawn DSouza: Microsoft’s technology leadership, combined with Kyndryl’s deep expertise in managing and transforming complex mission-critical systems, is a powerful combination for customers seeking trusted partners who deliver results. It’s one thing to acknowledge the need to “digitally transform” or infuse AI into applications and operations — but it’s another to have trusted partners who can design and build fit-for-purpose agentic AI-powered solutions that are secure, scalable and cost-effective to maintain and evolve.
Kyndryl and Microsoft don’t treat AI as just technology or engineering. Instead, we help customers reimagine operating models, prepare the future workforce comprised of people and “AI agents working alongside people”, and design new experiences that drive the adoption of new ways of thinking and working. It’s a holistic approach that goes beyond service delivery to create real innovation. We want our customers to be able to leverage AI to unlock new value and compete on a scale like never before.
What role does the Kyndryl Agentic AI Framework play?
DSouza: With Kyndryl’s Agentic AI Framework we can readily understand, integrate and transform our customers’ technology estates into modern AI systems by ingesting code, policies, complex interdependencies, and insights from Kyndryl Bridge. Combined with Microsoft’s AI and Azure services, we can autonomously execute business and IT workflows to fundamentally change how our customers operate. We do so with Kyndryl Agentic AI Digital Trust by providing full visibility into how the AI agents make decisions.
This isn’t about adding an “AI enhancement” to an existing system — it’s about building up AI infrastructure capabilities that align with strategic business priorities. In practice, this means reshaping the enterprise with dynamic workflows using AI agents to collaborate with people to work smarter and faster, to free up time for people to do the things that only we can do.
By combining Kyndryl’s expertise in change management and workforce transformation with Microsoft’s advanced AI capabilities, we deliver technically robust, people-centered solutions that generate tangible outcomes.
What’s the most important message for C-suite leaders attending the Ignite event?
DSouza: If you think AI is optional, think again. AI is a strategic imperative — the difference between success and falling behind. Ultimately, it’s about outcomes, not agents. It’s a process, a system, a new way of thinking that requires deep operational and industry expertise as table stakes.
Without that foundation, you risk ending up with the enterprise equivalent of an exotic sports car that won’t start. Success with AI depends not only on best-in-class technologies but also on business alignment. Organizations must be able to achieve and maintain the agility to integrate innovation into their operational ecosystems, and AI will play a key role in enabling that.
Technology leaders come to Ignite to make critical buying decisions. We want them to see what’s possible, visualize it, and then partner with us to build and run it — so they can focus on growing their businesses and staying ahead.
